To the Pacific Northwest...
We just returned from a very quick jaunt to the Pacific Northwest! We drove from the Central Coast to Seattle and back within a few days...it was filled with family visits, loads of time in the car, and of course, good food AND coffee!I absolutely loved the decor at Bar Melusine in the Capitol Hill neighborhood in Seattle...THAT tile and THOSE chairs....all so lovely...The donuts at General Porpoise were delicious...we ordered the Chocolate Marshmallow and Lemon Curd...I loved the character of the place...there was so much thought put into every element, like a piece of art. How adorable is this portrait?!When in Seattle, one must make a stop at Pike Place Market...the flower stands were overflowing with peonies! And this house-made Greek yogurt with marionberry jam from Ellenos was sublime!I left with stacks of independent magazines (which I miss having constant access to as I did when living in Los Angeles...The Gentlewoman and Lula, just to name a few)And the sweet peas were stunning and incredibly fragrant...in every color of the rainbow...On our way home, we made a quick stop in Portland for some road trip fuel including a cup of Good Coffee...Good coffee...good tile...you can shop these very summer-friendly pumps here...I have also been living in these jeans...There are pods of food trucks throughout Portland and Slow Squeeze Juice was a must...I ordered the Honeydew Melon + Fennel which I guzzled and finished within minutes...Pip's Original is a donut and chai spot in Portland...we ordered a half dozen and grabbed a chai for the road...Our last stop on our way home was a special one...my 97 year-old grandfather gave a lecture on jazz, complete with improvisational singing and ragtime stories...it was such a treat...What are some of your favorite spots in the Pacific Northwest?Photography by Cassie Winslow
